In which we take the Local Authority by the hand and show them the error of their ways...
'Twas the week before Christmas... All was quiet here at Wreyland Rural Planning, when all of a sudden I was visited by an ominous spectre who, it appeared, had decided to make their presence known through the medium of email...
"Interesting that terrifying incorporeal spirits have sought to modernise" I thought to myself.
Turns out that this particular phantom was nothing more than the Ghost of Local Authority Incompetence who had been sent to officiously inform me that my client's application to change the use of a range of farm buildings to commercial was CIL liable (potentially yielding a charge just shy of £22,000).
Once I disentangled myself from the Christmas Tree lights which only moments before I had cheerfully pinned to the office ceiling, I was able to take the LPA by the hand and show them the error of their ways in that our client owed absolutely nothing and that instead we'd be spending the money on a massive turkey.
I am pleased our conclusions were subsequently accepted and even yielded an apology.
Herein lies a lesson for 2023. Don't be a Scrooge - use a Planning Consultant.
